Back at Rose!
08.30.04 (8:47 am) [edit]
Yay for being back at Rose and in the Haute! I am slowly learning my way around, but I can now find campus, the house, kroger, church, a gas station, and a LOT of places that sell Diet Perfect. I live in the basement of the Tridelta house with Caroline and Heidi, and we have too much crap, but it's still super fun. Three beds, two futons, a giant chair...no desks. But there's a study room in the house and Heidi's academic chair, so I'm not worried. Rose isn't that hard, right? I think I've forgotten after a very long summer...
Blogging is going to be pretty limited during the school year, unless people are excited and post comments so I'm inspired to write something.
The countdown is over and it's finally official :)

Apparently some people are unaware of the plan. Here's how it goes:
Thursday - lunch with dad, falls, movie, miller family trivial pursuit action?
Friday - shopping, b-day dinner and cake and PRESENTS!
Saturday - packing, packing the car, repacking, repacking the car, repeat cycle, church
Sunday - drive to Terre Haute and move into the house with my roomies!
Then a week of pure bliss with no obligations. Well, some Tridelta stuff, but I have SO much free time to do that in.
My coworkers at DQ made me a goodbye card and Jess, Megan and I cried last night when they gave it to me. Yes, I'm a girl. And I don't get to work with anyone fun tonight on my last shift :(
New pics are up from camp - check out the website, there's a link on the left.
The countdown is at 19 hours and 35 minutes...I can't wait. :)

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post

Okay, I apologize to all the blog stalkers out there who appreciate updates from me. But don't get too excited because there won't be too many updates while I'm packing later this week.
So my life lately has consisted of work, both jobs. I'm at dad's office and it's a very slow day today, which gives me the opportunity to get a lot of other stuff done, like updating my blog! I have one more shift here and two more at DQ, in the next day and a half, and then NO MORE WORK! It's the best news I've had all summer. When I'm not working, I'm driving dad somewhere, shopping for back to school stuff, and seeing my SoDak people for the last time...so sad. I got to hang out with five other Ambassadors from my graduating class last week, which was a blast. And today I had lunch with my debate coach and caught up on all the team gossip. Last night was the last work crew hang out after close and we were all so tired we practically fell asleep waiting for the creepy Fryn' Pan (kinda like a Steak and Shake in Indiana-speak) waiter to bring us our food. I got a haircut this morning too and I have a dentist appointment tomorrow...really what all this means is that I need sleep. Badly.
The Happy August party from hell occurs Friday. That's when my dad's family gets together to celebrate the four birthdays, two anniversaries, and back to school thing. It sucks. And as an added bonus, it's on my birthday this year. I won't be home for dad's birthday or mom and dad's anniversary :(
The single question is still up in the air, with more people questioning the status lately. Curious...
Wish me luck on the downsizing thing. I am making a huge effort to pack only what I need and to only fill the trunk of the car, which now has a CD player (I think...) for the fun road trip.
The countdown is now at 1 day, 19 hours...pathetic, yes, that it's now hourly, but darn it, I'm excited. EEEEEE!

Grrrr work

Okay, the pretend vacation is over :( Back to work tomorrow and then soooo busy for the next two weeks. I broke down and made a planner - I know, I'm anal, but I'm in demand! I need some way to keep track of all my fans - aka mom, dad, jason...but whatev. I have four DQ shifts this week, one dad work shift, an appointment, a lunch date with my bro, a diet coke date with my debate coach, a million things to do for Tridelta, packing.....AAHHHHHH! I'm going to go crazy.
The lake was super fun, pretty relaxing, but with all this family togetherness time, I'm getting excited to go back to school.
Okay, since when did everyone start calling my cell phone on like a daily basis? I seriously must have spent two hours last night and three tonight on the phone. Wow. It's fun to hear from people, but it totally adds up. And I need to learn how to multitask better, because if you call me, chances are I'm being attacked by three people over AIM at the same time. But I heart my friends, so it's worth it all :)
The "Am I single, am I not?" debate...I DON'T KNOW! As silly as that sounds, we'll all just have to wait and see. And just because the boys of summer are gone, that doesn't indicate necessarily that ALL boys are gone...some are school boys, some are constant. And of course, your perception is limited to what I write in the blog, unless you've called me lately, and in that case, see above paragraph.
Girl/guy drama lately...all I have to say is what the crap.
And another little secret...what am I counting down to?
11 days :)

So I don't actually believe anyone reads my blog, so I wasn't going to update, but I had three update requests, so here it is:
Life at the Miller House:
Dad - driving everybody nuts because he's bored and wants to cook like he normally does, but this requires one of us to stand there and help him without making it obvious that we're baby-sitting to make sure he doesn't lift anything. Also wants to go back to work next week, so one of us has to drive him - how is it I got voted for that job?
Mom - needs a vacation from dad, badly. and work. i vote we kick her off the island and send her away for awhile. jason seconds that.
Jason - visiting his girlfriend in Wagner, SD (1 1/2 hours away). mom and dad are freaking out about it, but jason's happy and crystal's cute :)
Me - counting down the days. C-line came to visit and that was super fun. We went shopping and to the lake to sunbathe and saw Spiderman 2, which was decent considering I never get to see anything so I have nothing to compare it to.
Mom, Dad, and I are going to the lake for the weekend to relax a little, hopefully, before work starts again on Monday. There's a new movie in Viborg, so that'll at least be fun.
Okay, camp withdrawl totally still here. But to tide everyone over and keep the faith until next year, check out these websites:
SD Ambassadors of Excellence www.sdambassadors.org
Ambassador Photos www.ohthree.net
They will both be updated soon to include this summer - and until then, you can see me trying to be B Spears!
A lot of people lately have been questioning my dating life or lack thereof. Here's the scoop, and yes, this is vague on purpose ;)
Scott (aka DQ boy) - flirted with him at the beginning of the summer, had a chance to see him when I was at camp because he works admissions at the campus it's held at, but couldn't leave my kids to go party...haven't seen him since, but nothing will happen because it's the end of summer.
Kevin - saw him and talked to him at camp. We're friends.
Camp fling - news to me if I had one. (?)
So obviously the boys of summer are gone, but the real question is, am I off the market or not? Maybe I am or maybe even I don't know...this would be a good discussion for the comment section of the blog.
14 days...this is beginning to be an excruciatingly long countdown.
Night y'all!

Yay C-line!

Okay, such a better mood now that my Beta roomie is here! C-line's flight (yes, from the cities) got in this morning at 10 and she's staying until Thursday afternoon. We are going to the lake tomorrow for the day and overnight - we would have gone today, but y'all know SoDak weather is unpredictible. So we shopped in the rain and I bought way too much, but really, like that's anything new?
Other than that, I'm thinking about packing and counting down the days to Indiana life now that camp is over. Family time is nice, but I can't wait to go back to school. Living at the house, new classes, my big across the street, road trips to see my big big, football season (for dance, of course), and frequenting New Res 1 ;)
16 days...and fyi, i went to sleep with a smile on my face nights 17 and 18 - thanks for being a bright spot in my day :)

Three's Company
08.01.04 (7:45 pm) [edit]
Bored and watching Three's Company because nothing else is on...
Okay, for those of you that don't know, my dad had a triple bypass last Monday. He's doing great and he came home Friday night, about half hour after Jason and I got home from camp. It's been very interesting and taken some getting used to, as Dad can't do a lot of his favorite things and he can't drive at all for six weeks. However, this has created many hilarious stories from the Miller house. We are all taking turns on "dad-duty" but between Jason and I being tired from camp and Mom being a little burnt out from taking care of him by herself for a week, we were kinda cranky for the first day. Today, mom wanted to go into work to catch up some, so Jason and I took over at about three this afternoon. Things we learned: 1) Jason doesn't know how to do laundry. 2) I really can't cook. 3) We are all really bad at Trivial Pursuit. 4) I should start answering the phone "Todd's Personal Health Care Service." 5) We all need a vacation. 6) People that call before they visit get two thumbs up.
And that's pretty much my life for now. I went to DQ to pick up my paycheck and they asked if I could work tonight....hell no. Only one more day until a visit from C-line and a couple days at the lake! And Jason's girlfriend (yes, it's official again :) ) may come visit this weekend at the lake. Maybe I'll go shopping too, since I was supposed to be buying souvenirs...
18 more days...I can't wait!!! Another tally mark just for the hell of it ;)
*hugs and goodnight* ~ Kimberly
